FAM Winter Gala 2020

FAM students work in their lessons hard week in, week out. They practice pieces and they develop their technique. They set goals. These can be examinations, school tests, Junior Cert or Leaving Cert practicals, or - of course - an informal performance at one of the FAM Academy Recitals.

However, there are some students who want something extra. They strive for a bigger platform on which to excel. They seek a more formal occasion on which to perform.

The Winter and Summer Galas at Fingal Academy of Music provide opportunities for hard-working and ambitious students to perform alongside their teachers, as equals.

On the day of the concert, Storm Dennis wrought havoc on the health of some of our performers, but the show must go on.

The audience enjoyed several fantastic performances by FAM students, accompanied by Eoin Conway. As well as this, FAM teachers Rob Campbell (cello), Sarah May Rogers (violin), Lea Försterling (soprano), Eoin Conway (countertenor) and Dónal Kearney (baritone) all took to the stage to perform.

You can hear some recordings of the Winter Gala performers in Episode 2 of the Irish Institute of Music & Song podcast.

Here's hoping the storms are fading and that spring will soon be sprung. To find out all the details about the FAM Summer Gala in Balbriggan, follow us on Facebook. If you or your child would like to perform at the Summer Gala, please contact us now so that we may organise a practice plan with the relevant FAM tutor.
