a cappella quartet
the decibelles are jess commins, grace murray, eorann burns and michelle collins.
The Decibelles are a newly-formed vocal ensemble based in Malahide. They had sung together ever since the origins of Fingal Youth Choir (FYC), but it was in January 2016 that the four had their first rehearsal. Since then, they meet up regularly to practise and improve their repertoire. The Decibelles have performed in concerts and competitions around Dublin. Most recently, the inaugural Ireland's A Cappella Competition, curated by vocal ensemble Ardú.
In their own words:
Eorann is our bass and can sing lower notes than any of us. She grew up in a musical background, and has played the piano since she was young.
Michelle is our baritone. She's been singing in choirs for as long as she can remember, including St. Mary's Pro Cathedral Girl's Choir.
Jess, our tenor, has been singing for years in school choirs and musicals. She began singing with FYC in 2013 and has been there ever since.
Last but not least, Grace is our trusty lead! Grace is one of the founding members of Fingal Youth Choir and has been playing the piano for years.
As a group, we are inspired by other female groups who sing in close harmony, such as The Andrews Sisters and GQ and the barbershop style in general.
